CINEMATIC WEDDING FILM · 2025
Luiza & Narcis — between black-and-white and colour
An intimate wedding with around 30–40 guests. One videographer. And a visual idea I wanted to follow all the way through. In this film, black-and-white and colour are in constant dialogue rather than simply alternating as a stylistic effect.
Two worlds in a single frame
Selective colour was part of the idea from the beginning. In some scenes, I kept the image monochrome and used masks to reveal colour in specific details. A sequence with the couple's shoes almost becomes a conversation: one rendered in black-and-white, the other in colour. The work was painstaking, but I wanted the film to have its own visual language.
Poetry as a second voice
I layered an existing English-language recording of an actor reciting poetry over the music. I chose it for both the meaning of the words and the quality of the voice. I did not record the recital. My creative contribution was choosing it and weaving it into the sound and editing of the film.
Complexity isn't measured by the guest list
Working alone, I filmed the preparations, church ceremony and celebrations at CARO, including a portrait session in its grounds. My confirmed equipment for the production includes a DJI Ronin, DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4 lens. The precise main camera body has not been reconfirmed, so I do not specify one here.
I like that an intimate event led to such a carefully constructed film. It wouldn't be right to impose the same visual treatment on every wedding. Each story needs its own form.
